"I like working on my birthday, so I always do," the actor told the Hindustan Times.

"All the Dhoom films were shot on my birthday, and so were Bunty Aur Babli [2005] and Bol Bachchan [2012]. This year will be busy with Happy New Year and All Is Well."

The actor said he has fond memories of his birthdays but his greatest gift is the love of his fans.

"Birthdays are always memorable as you gets gifts. I am still close to my childhood friends so I reminisce about our 5th or 6th birthdays. I feel blessed to still have these friends," he explained.

"The best gift for an actor is the love of the fans. Many make sweet cards, write letters and even come and meet me wherever I am in India. The love and blessings of your elders is also always cherished, but the extra mile that the fans go to is memorable."

His son's birthday had Amitabh Bachchan reminiscing about Abhishek's childhood years, but he said that he relishes his relationship with his adult son more than ever.

"Abhishek just turned 38...! It is obvious cliche to start speaking suddenly of the day and moment he was born and what we were up to, of how he behaved when young, of his growing up, his days then to now, little incidents of nostalgic flavour," Amitabh posted on his blog.

"Now it is best to be with him as an adult, a friend a confidante, a support, a companion... That is best what occurs to me, and shall ever remain," he added.

The legendary star recently praised his son for his performance in the record-breaking Dhoom 3.

Abhishek last year marked 13 years as a star of Indian cinema.

He features in Happy New Year with an ensemble cast that includes Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Boman Irani.
