BBC3 scores record ratings among 16-34s

BBC Three recorded its best ever ratings among its target audience of 16-to-34-year-olds last week.

During its 7pm to 2am operating hours the digital-only channel attracted a 4.61% share of viewing in the age range.

BBC Three's previous high was 4.5% during the week it relaunched, with a greater focus on the young adult demographic, in February.

The highest-rating programme for the channel last week was Doctor Who Confidential, which followed BBC One's season finale on Saturday and drew 1.3m (7.5%). Also on Saturday, movie Meet the Fockers attracted 979,000 (6.2%) and was particularly popular with a young audience.

Other favourites among younger viewers were regular fixture Family Guy, with 275,000 on Thursday, and new series Britain's Missing Top Model, which brought in 475,000 on Tuesday.

In the same 7pm to 2am time period last week, youth-oriented rivals E4 and ITV2 took 3.45% and 2.55% respectively.
