Channel 4 unveiled its summer line-up today, with shows with a gay theme headlining the schedule.
Written by My Night with Reg playwright Kevin Elyot, drama Clapham Junction sees Paul Nicholls, Rupert Graves and James Wilby starring as a group of gay friends in London. Docu-drama The Last Gay Trial looks at gay life in the 1950s and documentary How Gay Sex Changed the World investigates the impact of changing social attitudes. Showing in July, the broadcast date coincides with the 40th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality.
Starring Neil Morrissey, new UK drama Cape Wrath is a seven part series which tells the tale of a town riddled with mistruths. Other new drama comes in the form of Ken Loach film It's A Free World following the life of an illegal Polish migrant worker.
Documentaries feature heavily over the coming months on Channel 4 with The Enemies of Reason seeing scientist Richard Dawkins looking into superstitions and pseudo-scientific theories, outgoing Primeminister Tony Blair is the subject of two documentaries, and the history of smoking and the media is looked into in The Last Drag.
In entertainment and comedy, Star Stories returns in June, with US shows My Name is Earl, Will & Grace and new acquisitions Brothers & Sisters making an appearance on Channel 4. Matthew Perry vehicle Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip premiering on More4.
E4 success Skins will also make an appearance on Channel 4 in August.
