Ex-BBC World chief takes business news job

Former BBC World chief Jeremy Hillman has become editor of economics and business news at the BBC.

He will run its economics and business centre whose 160 journalists provide daily coverage in the sector across all BBC media

Naomi Luland, BBC news spokeswoman, said: "Prior to that he ran the BBC’s New York bureau, and has also lived and worked in BBC bureaux in Brussels, Washington, Singapore and Hong Kong.

"During his time in foreign news-gathering Jeremy has covered many of the defining stories of the last twenty years including 9-11, the Gulf War when he was based in Qatar and Baghdad, and the Asian tsunami."
