The broadcasters behind commercial video on demand venture Project Kangaroo have been unable to supply needed information to the Competition Commission because to submit it will require "further negotiation".

The Commission had required BBC Worldwide, ITV and Channel 4 to submit particulars about the scope and proposed activities of Kangaroo's service by August 6. However, the broadcasters together reported to the Competition Commission that "they were unable to comply" because questions raised by the watchdog "have revealed a number of important issues which are outstanding between the parties and which they have indicated they are unable to resolve without further negotiation".

The broadcasters now expect to deliver the information to the Commission by September 8, pushing the publication date of its provisional findings back a month to mid-January 2009.
