Paul Ross has said that his brother Jonathan's prank call to Andrew Sachs was "unacceptable" and that the presenter has been chastised by their mother.

Jonathan Ross has returned to TV screens after a three-month suspension from the BBC following the calls, which were made as a part of Russell Brand's Radio 2 show.

Paul told The Alan Titchmarsh Show: "I think what he said was stupid, rude and unacceptable - as did my mother before she put the phone down on him."

He claimed that Jonathan had thought the prank would be edited out of the broadcast version of the programme, adding: "But it went out and he apologised. He got his three-month punishment."

Comic Vic Reeves recently criticised Ross for "picking on people" and complained that Britain is turning into a "nation of bullies".
