The new series of ITV flagship drama Lewis will not be shown in Scotland, it has emerged.

The move, which has already attracted comment on the DS TV forum, will see the Sunday night detective drama replaced by locally-produced shows Scotland at the Movies, in which Scottish actors and directors discuss movies they were involved in, and Highlands Special, which follows Taggart's John Michie on a journey through the Scottish Highlands "to find out about the period leading up to and during the Clearances".

STV will rejoin the national ITV1 network at 11pm for the late news bulletin.

The broadcaster has said it intends to pull out of the national ITV1 schedule more frequently to offer a service more relevant to Scottish viewers, and has also unveiled a new identity.
