Jono Coleman has been axed as host of Heart 106.2's breakfast show after six years.
The DJ lost 223,000 listeners in the last half of 2004 to average an audience of 748,000. Meanwhile, Johnny Vaughan, breakfast host at rival London station Capital, has started to draw back listeners and now averages 1.13 million each morning.
Jamie Theakston has been named as the replacement for Coleman, who will continue to host the show for the next six weeks.
"Jamie Theakston hails the beginning of an exciting next chapter for Heart 106.2, and this move presents a real opportunity for us to create a market-leading breakfast show and station," said Steve Parkinson, the MD at Heart. "Jamie is an established personality who has been a part of many of our listeners' lives for a long time."
Theakston added: "I can't wait to get stuck in - it will great to be on Heart 106.2 and great to be back in radio."
