
It was another strong night for ITV1 yesterday as its dependable drama lineup took the top four spots.
Leading the pack was Coronation Street with 11.94 million viewers - a 49% share of the available audience - down by more than 1 million from Friday's episode.
The Royal averaged 8.36 million (33.3%) in the 8pm hour, easily topping BBC One's rival drama Down To Earth, which had 5.02 million (20%). Emmerdale showed signs of viewer fatigue at 7pm, however, with an average of 7.79 million (34.7%) - around 2 million less than usual.
At 9pm, EJ Howard adaptation Falling managed to hold an impressive 6.84 million (31.5%) over two hours, up from the 5.53 million (25.8%) who saw The Walk a week earlier.
On BBC One, episodes of Comic Relief Does Dame Academy drew audiences of 5.5 million (25.4%) and 6.79 million (27.8%) at 6.35pm and 9pm respectively.
Channel 4's top show was X-Rated: The TV They Tried to Ban, which had 2.69 million (16.7%) at 10pm while Five's movie premiere of Dude, Where's My Car? amused 1.71 million (7.5%) from 9pm.
Multichannel's top draw of the day went to a new episode of The Simpsons, seen by 1.11 million (8.5%) on Sky One at 6.30pm. Also faring well was the channel's new animated series Father of the Pride, which took third place with an average of 807,000 (5%) at 7.30pm. A new Malcolm in the Middle had 721,000 (4.8%) for fourth at 7pm, while in the 9pm hour, the continuing fourth season of 24 pulled in 634,000 (3.9%).
BBC Three's coverage of Celebrity Fame Academy held 350,000 (2.1%) between 7.35pm and 9pm, but the station's biggest audience was for a new Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps with 623,000 (4.5%) at 10pm.
