Terrestrials: Summary

Top news audience of the day was BBC One's 7.40pm bulletin, which had 4.75 million (20.8%) over 30 minutes. ITV's early evening bulletin, broadcast an hour earlier, took a close second with 4.52 million (25.2%).

An immigration-themed Panorama had 2.31 million (15.2%) between 10.20pm and 11.20pm while earlier on BBC One, 1.21 million (29.9%) enjoyed Breakfast With Frost at 8am.

BBC One's coverage of The Inauguration Mass of Pope Benedict XVI averaged 1.07 million (18.4%) between 8.50am and 11.30am, comfortably more than any other broadcaster at the time.

News Channels: Summary

Sky News held a steady audience of more than 30,000 for most of the day, with News 24 just slightly ahead on average. The channels managed peaks of 53,000 (1.24%) and 81,000 (0.77%) at 9.30am and 6pm respectively.

Earlier on Sky, Sunday with Adam Boulton was down by almost 10,000 to 34,000 (0.71%) in the 10am hour.
