'Love Island' too "tacky" for Sky One

Tacky: Abi

Celebrity Love Island was considered too "tacky" even for Sky One, according to a report in the Media Guardian.

The show, a ratings flop for ITV, was apparently first developed by Granada for the channel in 2003.

An insider told the website that the idea was not commissioned, however, because it "was thought to be too downmarket and potentially damaging to Sky One's reputation."

Granada went on to pitch the show to ITV before it was originally commissioned earlier this year.
