Austin to replace McDonald at 10.30

Mark Austin has been confirmed as the new anchor of ITV's News At 10.30 bulletin.

The journalist will replace long-running presenter Trevor McDonald, who is stepping down from the role at the end of this year.

"Mark’s background and experience provide him with exceptional credibility and authority," said David Mannion, editor-in-chief of ITV News.

"Trevor is of course unique but I am delighted someone of Mark's calibre is stepping in and am completely confident that he will emerge as Britain’s most popular and authoritative news anchor."

In addition to his new duties, Austin will continue to co-anchor the network's early evening bulletin at 6.30pm.
