WUPL-TV New Orleans, the city's UPN station, has set up an internet message board to try and get back in touch with its employees.

The station has been off-air since the night of August 28th when the full evacuation order was given.

"We have been watching, with great sadness, the news coverage of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Our foremost concern is for the welfare of our employees and their families," the station said in a statement.

The Viacom-owned station added that it intends to continue paying regular base salaries and benefits coverage (such as health insurance) for its full-time employees.

WUPL-TV is also operating an Internet based message board for employees to stay in touch with one another. One posting reads: "[...]I am thinking of each and every one of you. You are all like my extended family. Hopefully, we will all be together again soon so we can rebuild."
