Richard Woolfe has been appointed as the new controller of Sky One.

The Living TV head is noted for turning around the fortunes of Flextech's flagship station with a string of clever US acquisitions including Will & Grace, Charmed and Grey's Anatomy, as well as commissioning a host of pink and paranormal-themed original content. He has also overseen reality-based spinoff channel Living TV 2 and Ftn, Flextech's entertainment station on Freeview.

Since winning the prestigious 'Industry player of the year' award at 2005's Edinburgh International TV Festival, Woolfe has been linked with top positions at Five and BBC Three.

Reporting to Sky Networks MD Dawn Airey, Woolfe will now be charged with turning around Sky One's audience decline. He will also manage the accompanying spinoff channels, Sky Two and Sky Three.

Previous Sky One controller James Baker left the channel last month to head up Sky Interactive.
