Pitts becomes ITV's head of platforms, SDN

Simon Pitts has been appointed to the newly-created position of 'controller of platforms' at the ITV Consumer division.

In the role, Pitts - currently controller of regulatory affairs - will be responsible for "protecting" and "promoting" ITV's involvement in digital TV platforms. These include Freeview, in which it became an equal shareholder last year, and the upcoming Freesat joint venture service with the BBC.

Pitts has also been appointed managing director of SDN, the DTT multiplex operator acquired by ITV last year.

"I am very excited to be joining ITV Consumer at such a defining point in the development of digital television," said Pitts, who takes over the role from early March. "The role will enable me to deepen my existing relationships with the industry to help grow ITV's direct-to-consumer revenues, and maximise ITV's investment in DTT capacity through our recent acquisition of SDN."
