Seven Network in Australia has reported a 19.5% rise in half-year profits.
The network's profit after tax was A$65.5m for the six months to December 2005, up from A$54.8m in the same period during 2004. EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) rose 27.4%, coming in at A$149.1m. Revenues rose more modestly, 4.9%, up to A$664.7m for the half-year.
Seven's broadcast TV unit performed well in the period, with a 49% rise in EBITDA on the back of strong ratings for its TV programmes; a trend continuing right now with Prison Break and Commander in Chief doing well in the current ratings season.
