Sky plans new Sky Sports channel
Sky is intending to launch a sixth Sky Sports-branded channel after securing a licence for 'Sky Sports 4' from TV regulator Ofcom.

The broadcaster already operates Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and Xtra for live coverage, plus Sky Sports News for rolling news, but is thought to need another outlet for its ever-expanding portfolio of live rights.

A Sky spokesperson confirmed that "the relevant procedures" were being followed in order to launch a new channel but refused to be drawn on when it would launch or what content it would house.
