Celador Productions, makers of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, has appointed Ruth Wrigley to the position of head of entertainment.

Wrigley announced her departure as the BBC's head of special entertainment projects and executive producer on How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? last month, after only five months in the role.

Wrigley, who worked on the first three series of Big Brother for Endemol, will have responsibility for creating and pitching new formats at Celador, as well as executive producing productions.

Danielle Lux, managing directors Celador, said: “Ruth is one of the few executives who has created genuinely broad entertainment hits, big in both scale and ambition as well as audience numbers. I'm delighted she'll be playing such a key part in Celador Production's future. “

Celador is currently going through a managment buyout, being led by Lux.

Colman Hutchinson, the outgoing head of entertainment, is stepping down from the post having opted out of the buyout. He will continue in his role as executive producer on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and other projects.
