US drama Lost attracted an audience of 1.4 million viewers and a 9% share for Sky One last night.
Though the double-bill first episode of the third series only managed half of the 2.8 million viewers the previous season's opener did on Channel 4.
The show has followed the same pattern as 24, which dropped from 2.4 million and 3.3 million for the first two series' shown on BBC Two, to just 1 million for the third series on Sky One.
Channel 4 did well without Lost, with last night's showing of the final Lord of the Rings film attracting 3.3 million viewers, and a 16.5% share.
ITV1's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' did best overall, with 7.7 million viewers and 30% share. Another jungle based programme - Planet Earth attracted 6.7 million and a 26% share at the same time on BBC One.
On Saturday, BBC One's Robin Hood only managed 5.5 million and a 23.6% share at 7.15pm.
The series, which started on 8.9 million for its first episode, has failed to match up to the mite of ITV1's X Factor, which this week triumphed at 8.8 million viewers and a 37.7% share .
I'm a Celebrity attracted 7 million viewers on Saturday at 9.25pm, with BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing managing slightly more with 7.3 million.
