ITV is reportedly handing its top commissioners increased responsibility for their genres across the whole network.

According to Broadcast, entertainment chief Paul Jackson, head of factual and daytime Alison Sharman and controller of drama Laura Mackie will now oversee output across ITV2, 3 and 4, as well as ITV1. All three will continue to report to director of television Simon Shaps.

The trio will work with the channel controllers - ITV2's Zai Bennett, ITV3's Emma Tennant and ITV4's Dave Fewings - in advising on 'what will work' for each channel.

The change is similar to the BBC's new structure, introduced last year, which saw a 'two-tick' process introduced under BBC Vision, with 'super commissioners' and channel controllers green-lighting projects.

ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4's deputy commissioner Joe Talbot and general commissioner Matthew Littleford will now report to the super commissioners. The channel controllers will still report to Steven Andrew, programme director for ITV digital channels.

The network is hoping the new structure will see more original programming created across all channels.
