
The friendly between England and Brazil scored well for BBC One on Friday night, taking an average 9.2 million viewers and a 43.6% share.
The audience peaked at 10.1 million - a 45.1% share - in the last 15 minutes as Brazil equalized making the final score 1-1. The entire two and half hour coverage took an average 8.4 million from 7.30pm.
The football had a clear impact on the other channels' big hitters. ITV1's Coronation Street only managed 7.5 million and a 42.4% share in comparison at 7.30pm.
Channel 4's first of two Big Brother outings only pulled in 3.3 million and a 15% share at 8.30pm. More viewers tuned in for the 10.30pm live show once the football had finished, giving the programme a 4.3 million audience and 24.2% share.
The penultimate episode of Ugly Betty did better for the channel, taking 2.5 million and an 11.3% share, with the new series of The Friday Night Project pulling in 1.5 million and a 13.8% share at 11.05pm.
