Each week we'll be asking people from all parts of the media industry - from channel controllers to catering staff, directors to digital technicians - to tell us about themselves and their job.
This week it's the turn of Terry Longden, who best known for his appearance on Channel 4 reality show The Salon, but has certainly been a busy boy since then. The nephew of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne has worked as a stylist for his uncle on tour, for cousin Kelly, as well as across many TV shows including The X Factor, This Morning and Love on a Saturday Night with Davina McCall. And now he's presenting a show with X Factor's Rowetta Satchell on Manchester radio station - Gaydio.
Name
Terry Longden
Job Title
Hair & make-up artist/stylist, presenter and radio DJ.
Age
44
Lives
Manchester
In the role since
Hair & make-up styling since 1984, presenter & radio DJ since 2003.
Responsibilities
They are varied, as in the beauty industry I am responsible for how someone looks, as a presenter for how they feel, and as a radio DJ not only do I have to entertain but drive and organise the desk.
Best thing about your job
The best thing about hairdressing is teaching other hairdressers hungry to learn. On the radio its working with Rowetta as we have the same sense of humour.
Worst thing about your job
The worst thing about hairdressing is clients who think they know better. On the radio it's being told what songs to play and not being able to swear.
First thing you do in the morning when you get in
Have a triple shot grande latte from Starbucks and a pee.
Any downsides to working in the media?
Not having a stable relationship.
First media/TV job
For Endemol on The Salon Channel 4 September 2003-March 2004.
Question you have been asked most this week
"Can you please play....?"
Biggest achievement to date
Learning to drive a radio desk and entertain at the same time.
Anything you wish you'd done differently
I have no regrets as I believe everything good or bad happens for a reason to let a person evolve.
Dream job/company/lifestyle
Professional singer is my dream job but unfortunately I can't sing.
Best media jolly/event you've ever attended
The Oscars and Elton's White Tie & Tiara Ball.
Whose advice has been invaluable to you in your career?
Sharon Osbourne gave me the best advice when I started my media career; she said three words "Just be yourself!"
Favourite person to style for
My favourite celeb I would love to style for is Kylie, but sadly the job's already taken.
Celebrity you think 'needs a bit of help'
The celeb who needs a whole new style shake-up has to be Britney Spears, she's just a total mess at the moment, poor cow!!
Check out Terry and Rowetta's show on Gaydio at 4pm every weekday, 87.7fm in Manchester and online around the UK.
