BBC Radio 2 listeners have chosen Sir Terry Wogan as their ultimate icon of the last four decades.
The station, which is celebrating 40 years on air after taking over from the BBC Light Programme, has invited listeners to nominate and vote for icons who best represent the period of Radio 2's existence.
16 names ranging from Muhammad Ali to Sir Cliff Richard were whittled down to 4 finalists: Sir Terry Wogan, The Beatles, Princess Diana, and Nelson Mandela.
"I've always suspected that the great British public thought of me in the same way as a great piece of art or great work of art," said Sir Terry. "I just hope this result doesn't mean they want to hang me somewhere."
