Ofcom has confirmed that it will reduce the minimum quota for non-news regional programmes on ITV from 4 hours to 3 hours per week starting on January 1, 2009.
The reduction will apply from 2008 in the Channel Islands.
The regulator first proposed and consulted on the matter in 2005, when it ran its first public service broadcasting review. Today, it said that "longer-term issues in relation to ITV non-news programmes in the nations will be considered as part of Ofcom's second PSB Review next year".
