BARB is expected to award its post-2010 UK television audience measurement contract to TNS Arbitron, a report has indicated.

According to Marketing Week, BARB will announce the decision later this week.

TNS operated BARB's audience measurement system until 2000, when AGB Nielsen took over on a ten year agreement. TNS plans to introduce portable people meters, which have been used in non-reporting pilots in London.

Wearable portable people meters were developed by Arbitron and identify hidden audio tones in TV or radio programming which are then logged.
