MTV has confirmed that it plans to roll out MTV Flux elements on its portfolio of music channels after the linear TV service is replaced by MTV One+1 on February 1.

A spokesperson for MTV said that the broadcaster "will keep and support the MTV Flux online community and then evolve Flux elements for each of the music channels", specifically MTV Base, Hits, Dance and MTV2.

Those channels will show a 30 minute music programming show with the working title of Flux Me I'm Famous, where Flux users will "be encouraged to submit their ideas for music tracks that would be most appropriate" for a playlist related to 2 or 3 news stories selected on a Monday of each week by the online community.

"The time-shifted MTV One will launch at the beginning of February 2008 and will replace MTV Flux," the spokesperson confirmed. "MTV One has been incredibly successful since it's relaunch last summer and launching a time shifted version will maximise the opportunity for our audience to enjoy the channel's content."

The spokesperson added: "Since the launch of MTV Flux in August 2006 we have learned a great deal about how our audience interact with the channel and one of the key discoveries was that they wanted very specific control in terms of the music they enjoy and that as a channel the Flux offering was too broad. We are therefore evolving MTV Flux. The Flux community will continue and we are also introducing a series of Flux elements across all our music channels. This will give the audience direct control over specific music that they enjoy and want to see more of."
