Kaplinsky "in shock" over Five move

Natasha Kaplinsky has admitted that she is still "in a state of shock" over her decision to move from the BBC to Five.

The TV host and journalist will start fronting the revamped Five News from Monday after being lured away from the BBC.

"I still am in a state of shock that I have left the BBC," Kaplinsky told the Daily Record. "But Five News offered me an opportunity I didn't think I would have at the BBC. A show is being created around me and I had never been on my own before.

"I agonised over the move but was persuaded to go by the team at Five and all their ideas. You can become complacent and I don't think it is a bad thing for you to move around in your career."

Kaplinsky has insisted that money was not the main reason for her decision to move - as it took three months for her to finally make up her mind.

"If it was a money issue then I would have jumped straight away," she explained. "Money was not an issue and I proved it by not taking the job for nearly three months. I needed a lot of persuasion!"

Natasha will start presenting bulletins at 5pm and 7pm each weekday from next week.
