Danyl Johnson

Danyl Johnson first appeared on TV screens in 2009 as a contestant in the sixth series of The X Factor. Despite being described by Cowell as giving "the best first audition" ever and subsequently becoming an early favourite to win the competition, Johnson eventually finished in 4th place. During the course of the programme, Johnson publicly outed himself as bisexual, resulting in a media furore after his mentor Dannii Minogue made an inappropriate comment about his sexuality live on air. In August 2010, Johnson revealed that he would be heading to New York to record his debut album.
