Born in Los Angeles, Kate is the daughter of award-winning actress Goldie Hawn and actor Bill Hudson. Her parents divorced eighteenth months after her birth but that did not stop her from following in their career footsteps. She made her screen debut in 1998 in the film Desert Blue in which she played a stranded young starlet. Her breakthrough moment however, came in the form of Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous in 2000. For this part she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress and won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress- Motion Picture. One of her most famous films is How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days which was a smash hit at the box office. She has since starred in other romantic comedies such as Alex and Emma and Raising Helen. She appeared in the musical film Nine and was praised for her previously unknown dance abilities. She has also tried her hand at directing. In 2007 she wrote directed short film Cutlass. She was married to the frontman to the The Black Crowse, Chris Robinson. They have one son together. She is now married to Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy and the couple have one son.
