Samia made her acting debut at the age of 11 in an episode of Cracker, and has played Coronation Street's Maria Connor for over a decade. Samia said that her first fall came four weeks into training, and named the judges as her greatest fear going into the live shows. She says that her dream skating partner would be her Corrie co-star and Dancing on Ice 2008 runner-up Chris Fountain "because he is my mate, and he is brilliant at skating".
