Almost 16 million viewers tuned in to see Kerry McFadden crowned Queen of the Jungle last night (Monday), early ratings figures show.

The final averaged a massive 14.1 million viewers - a 54.5% share of the audience - over 90 minutes from 9pm. Coverage peaked at a collosal 15.7 million (61.1%) just after 10pm when the winner was announced.

As well as setting a ratings record for the programme across all of its three series, the final also pulled off the feat of beating the episode of Coronation Street which preceded it (13.3m, 50.4%).

Predictably, ITV2 also benefitted from the interest in the show, with an average of 1.95 million (21.1%) spinoff I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here Now!. Ratings peaked at some 2.90 million (24.5%) just after 10.30pm.

ITV is expected to capitalise further on the massive success of the series in the coming weeks with a primetime 'reunion' special back in the UK.
