How far along with Superior are you?
"Actually, we're on issue #5. It's just about done. I'm very busy with Avengers, though - that's Ultimate Avengers vs. New Ultimates. Superior is going to be done real soon, right after. I'm going to jump on that as soon as possible."
Where have you and Mark got to with New Ultimates?
"We're done with issue #4 and I'm working on #5 right now. It's a six-issue series."
What are you working on at the moment?
"We have a new project, [Supercrooks]."
How does working on a creator-owned book compare to working on a major superhero crossover?
"There's a bit more freedom, because I get to design some of the stuff. The hardest part of crossovers is the number of characters you have to learn how to draw. It takes longer to draw new characters than old ones that I'm familiar with. It's easier to draw your own characters."
Are you intending to move away from the established superhero titles to more creator-owned properties?
"Yes. I think it's something I'm going to pursue with Mark Millar."
Is there any title you would particularly like to work on?
"I'm enjoying Superior a lot. It's my baby right now."
How would you describe your working relationship with Mark Millar?
"It's one of the best ever. He's such a great guy - a really nice guy - and a great writer. The scripts are fantastic - very easy to draw, and they're also spectacular."
How much do you get involved in developing the storylines?
"I have to leave the writing to Mark. I have so much respect for him, so I don't mind him taking the lead on the stories. We share a few emails here and there, but it's Mark's brainchild."
Yu's Superior and Ultimate Avengers vs. New Ultimates miniseries are both currently ongoing.
