The comic book giant has been conducting an online survey throughout the month of June to establish the top 70 cover illustrations of all time.
The winning book's cover, drawn by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, bears a close-up illustration of an enraged Wolverine, who battled the Hulk throughout the issue.
Amazing Fantasy #15 came in second place, with its iconic image of Spider-Man catching a crook, drawn by Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. John Byrne's Uncanny X-Men #141 illustration took the third spot.
Two more X-Men related covers found themselves ranked in the top ten, alongside Spider-Man, Captain America and The Avengers issues, which accounted for the other places.
A complete rundown of all seventy covers is available on marvel.com.
