'Chew' #2 sells out at distribution level

Chew #2 has sold out at the distribution level days before it is due in the shops as retailers rush to get hold of the surprise hit from Image Comics.

Retailers have rushed to buy the second issue after John Layman's Chew #1 gained popularity by word of mouth and soon sold out.

First print issues of Chew #1 have sold for $51 (£31) and a second printing is on the way.

"Thanks to everybody who helped make this book such a surprise hit," Layman wrote on his blog. "And if you missed out, never fear... a second print is coming."

Chew #2 will be released on Wednesday.
