Leifeld talks 'Youngblood' return

Youngblood creator Rob Leifeld has confirmed that he will return to writing and pencilling duties with the Image comic, according to CBR.

The writer and artist will make his comeback on Youngblood #9 with a story titled First Strike. In the new plotline, the titular characters come to the aid of US president Barack Obama following an attack on the White House.

"I felt it was the right time," he said on his return to the book. "The window was wide open but closing fast. The series needed a shot in the arm.

"Despite mine and Image's best intentions and efforts promoting the Joe Casey stuff, it just wasn't moving. The series needed a boost."

Leifeld first introduced Yougblood in 1992. Original team members Shaft, Badrock, Vogue and Die-Hard will appear in the new story arc, alongside new characters Big Brother and Sentinel.

Yougblood #9 is on sale on July 22.
