Tite Kubo's anime book Bleach has dethroned Watchmen at the top of the bestselling graphic novel chart for June.

According to figures from Nielsen BookScan, this is the first time that Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’s superhero epic has not sat at the summit since June last year.

DC had just one other entry in the top 20, with Grant Morrison's Final Crisis debuting at number six.

Manga books dominated the chart, accounting for 17 of the places, seven of which went to Narutu comics.

Viz Media benefited from this, with 14 of its books occupying ranks in the top 20. The other anime titles were published by Tokyopop and Del Rey.

Dark Horse Comics's Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season Eight, Vol. 4 remained in the charts for a second week, but dropped ten places to 18.

Analysts have predicted that Watchmen will reclaim the top spot next month, with its big screen adaptation arriving on DVD and Blu-ray on July 27.
