Rex Features
Three offerings based on the iconic sci-fi franchise will be available via iTunes. Star Wars Legacy: Broken will run for two issues, taking place over a century after Return Of The Jedi, while Shipyards of Doom will expand the Clone Wars saga.
A four-issue standalone offering titled Star Wars Empire: Betrayal will launch the series of releases.
"It's an easy point of entrance for fans who may only be familiar with the films, plus it features all of the best 'bad guy' characters, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and the Emperor," editor Randy Stradley told CBR.
"Also, the fact that the Empire: Betrayal story actually begins a few weeks before the events in A New Hope will intrigue readers who aren't familiar with the width and breadth of the expanded universe."
The Star Wars series will be Dark Horse's second foray into iPhone comics, with its Terminator miniseries running earlier this year.
