The established American comedians will each produce a comic that will be collected in Comedy Death Ray, the first of a series of planned anthologies.
Names attached to the project include Sarah Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Programme), Janeane Garofalo (24), David Cross (Arrested Development) and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover).
Those involved are hoping that the project will spawn spinoffs for television or film.
American Original is a multi-platform entertainment group founded earlier this year by studio executive and comic book author Jeff Katz.
