'Walking Dead' flipbook issue confirmed

Image Comics has announced that an upcoming Walking Dead book will come bundled with the first issue of a brand new series.

According to the publisher, The Walking Dead #64 will be presented in flipbook format, sharing its pages with Ivan Brandon and Nic Klein's pre-release Viking #1.

"The response to Viking has been absolutely flooring in every way. But the chance to expose the book to the entire massive Walking Dead fanbase is a whole new level of exciting," said Brandon.

"Even though Viking is normally in our full-colour oversized format, we were surprised by how incredible Nic's art looked in black and white. I think people are really going to love what they see."

The new comic's storyline takes place in the ninth century, centring around two brothers who find themselves embroiled in the Norse criminal underworld.

"I'm personally psyched to have Viking in the back of Walking Dead," Kirkman added. "As both an Image partner and a fan, I'm thrilled by the book's success and hope to continue its growth in any way I can."

The Walking Dead #64 is released on August 12.
