S.W.O.R.D. will feature Agent Abigail Brand and X-Men’s Beast and Lockheed as they battle extraterrestrial threats to Earth.
The series, announced at Chicago Comic-Con, will be penned by British writer and journalist Kieron Gillen (Phonogram), with art from Steven Sanders (The Five Fists of Science).
"On the one hand, I'm creating the status quo of what S.W.O.R.D. is up to right now," Gillen told Newsarama. "But I'm also in the position [to say] what they've been up to until now.
"It's not as if aliens haven't been active on Earth until now. What have these guys been up to? Who are they like? What is their job really? And why do they matter?"
S.W.O.R.D.'s first appearance was in Joss Whedon's celebrated run on Astonishing X-Men.
The new series will debut in November.
