According to the comics giant, the four-part miniseries will introduce helmer Jon Favreau's interpretation of the movie's antagonist. The villain, played by Mickey Rourke, will be an amalgamation of Whiplash and the Crimson Dynamo.
The book, titled Iron Man vs. Whiplash, is written by Star Trek scribe Brannon Braga and Marc Guggenheim. Artwork will be provided by Submariner penciller Phil Briones.
"Before he strikes in Iron Man 2, meet the all-new, all-different, all-deadly Whiplash in this special in-continuity adventure," read Marvel's synopsis from the series. "Who is Anton Vanko and why does he blame Tony Stark for the murder of thousands? For that matter, why does the United Nations?"
Iron Man 2 opens in theatres on May 7, 2010. The new miniseries will precede the film's release.
