During the company's press conference at gamescom 2009, the electronics giant announced that the upcoming Digital Reader system will give users access to hundreds of downloadable comic books.
Marvel Comics has already pledged its support to the service, revealing that Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Hulk and Captain America will all be available for download. "This could be our most significant platform yet," a Marvel executive remarked.
Smaller publishers including iVerse Media, who will provide Star Trek and Transformers books, are also on board, but there has been no word on whether DC Comics will support the platform.
The Digital Reader service will be launched in December.
