DC Thomson to revamp 'The Beano'
Published Tuesday, Aug 25 2009, 18:59 BST | By Mark Langshaw

The publication will be given an overhaul from August 29, relaunching as a 32-page weekly. A "mini-mag" containing a preview of the redesigned Dennis and Gnasher will come bundled with its next issue.
In addition to the revitalised book, the publisher is bringing the comic into the digital age, launching two affiliated websites. The online subsidiaries - dennisandgnasher.com and beanotown.com - will serve as an interactive accompaniment and host issues of Digital Beano.
"Our ultimate aim is to engage a whole new generation of Beano fans with a fresh approach to our core characters," they said. "We also hope to excite existing and lapsed fans, particularly parents who may have enjoyed The Beano themselves."
It was also confirmed that children's network CBBC will broadcast new episodes of animated show Dennis And Gnasher every weekday at 3.45pm, while Fun Kids will host a radio show based on the pair every Saturday morning throughout September.
