Ellis deifies heroes in 'Supergod'
Warren Ellis's latest series for Avatar Press, Supergod, will detail a world in which superheroes are worshipped as gods.

The five-issue miniseries will be drawn by Garrie Gastony.

"That series is another one of Warren’s takes on the superhero genre," Avatar president William Christensen told ICv2. "Beating everything up, throwing it all in a blender, and spitting out something mad and crazy.

"It’s all about people that worship superheroes as gods and how that’s really going to go horribly awry when your gods start killing everyone."

"[It's] one of the odder things I’ve written, I think," Ellis wrote on his website. "Someone made the mistake of asking me for another superhero-mode comic, and I suspect maybe since I returned to that subgenre something important in my brain developed moss on it or something."

The Planetary and Transmetropolitan author has written extensively for Avatar since its founding in 1996, including series Gravel, Ignition City and No Hero.

Supergod debuts in November.
