Written by Frank Tieri and illustrated by Paco Diaz, the crossover miniseries has been given an online release to coincide with the DVD launch of blockbuster film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The three-part story sees the mutant face off against an army of his greatest foes. Thor is caught in the frey, but whether the God of Thunder is a friend or a foe is uncertain.
"I will admit at first glance it seems like an odd pairing, but to be honest, that's one of the reasons we're doing it," Tieri told Newsarama. "Originally this pitch involved Wolvie and another character, but one of the cool things about working at Marvel is sometimes a pitch morphs into something else and that was the case here.
"Honestly, I think with the movie coming out they want to raise Thor's profile a bit and by pitting him against Wolvie, giving fans a fight they've never really seen before, it certainly can't hurt."
A four-page preview of the book is available on Marvel's website. X-Men Origins: Wolverine arrives on DVD on September 15.
