The Heroes star said that the Lucid mini-series has historical origins relating to Queen Elizabeth I and one of her advisors, John Dee, who was believed to dabble in necromancy.
Quinto told CBR TV: "We trace this lineage down to modern day and to a character named Matthew Dee, who comes of that world and exists at a time when nations actually have secret cabinets of magicians and mages - secret magents if you will - to do their bidding politically and otherwise throughout the world.
"It really picks up with his story and his relationship with the President and the precarious political situation at that time.”
Turning to graphic novel Mr Murder Is Dead, Quinto said: "The tagline is old men doing very bad things." He added that readers should expect a story "with a real tip to the pulp and noir essences".
Both projects came about after Quinto's Before The Door Pictures entered into a partnership with the publisher Archaia.
Lucid, written by True Blood actor Michael McMillian, is due out in the summer of 2010.
