The proposed movie adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel Ronin is still going ahead, according to helmer Sylvain White.

Following the formation of DC Entertainment, several film adaptations based on the comic book firm's properties have been put on hold. However, the director said that Ronin's progress has not been hindered.

"It's still being developed. I just got a new draft a week ago. It's looking really good and promising. I hope it gets to go," White told CBR.

Created by Miller after his run on Marvel's Daredevil, Ronin tells the tale of a masterless samurai who finds himself reincarnated in a futuristic version of New York City. Darren Aronofsky was originally attached to adapt the graphic novel, before White emerged as helmer in 2007.

White is currently bringing Vertigo series The Losers to the big screen, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Chris Evans. "If I went to Ronin, it would be a very different genre from 'The Losers even though the source material is still a graphic novel," he added.

"You're going from a gritty action film to a sci-fi from a fun, light contemporary action film to a very dark, futuristic sci-fi film, so I'm not worried."
