Disney in talks with Vimanika Comics

Following its recent acquisition of Marvel, the American media giant is looking to capitalise on comic book fans' appetite for religion-inspired superheroes. The deal is thought to include the film and television rights to the publisher's properties.
Vimanika, owned by Mumbai-based entrepreneur Karanvir Arora, was founded over a year ago. The firm prints comics in English and Hindi and distributes in the United States as well as its native India. It is due to begin shipping in Britain this month.
Disney is already a force in Indian media, following last year's £100m investment in Bollywood studio UTV.
The firm faces stiff competition in the market, with the Cartoon Network and Richard Branson's Virgin Comics already drawing from Indian sources to create successful new properties.
Vimanika Comics' most popular titles include Dashaavatar, Legend Of Karna and Lord Shiva.
