Marvel
Last week Kirby's heirs sent 45 copyright termination notices to companies including Marvel, Universal, 20th Century Fox and Paramount in an attempt to reclaim the rights to the characters their father created.
Although the creation of Spider-Man is attributed to Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Kirby was involved in the development of the character.
Kirby's heirs are seeking a share of the copyright to characters and story elements that appeared in Spider-Man's debut in Amazing Fantasy #15 and the early issues of Amazing Spider-Man - such as Aunt May, Uncle Ben, J Jonah Jameson and the Daily Bugle.
The heirs are being represented by Marc Toberoff, the lawyer who recently helped the wife and daughter of Jerry Siegel regain a share of the rights to Superman.
