DiDio defends spoilers release
DC Comics executive editor Dan DiDio has explained his decision to reveal the return of Nekron in Blackest Night.

The Lord of the Undead was unveiled as the controller of death in the DC Universe in a preview solicitation for Blackest Night #5.

That issue’s cover also appeared on the front of last month’s edition of Previews, upsetting some fans.

DiDio told Newsarama: "In my mind, showing Nekron might be deemed a spoiler to the person who sees his face and says, 'Oh, I know he's part of the story now'.

"But unless you know how he's used, what he does, and what his effect on the rest of the story is, I don't think we're spoiling anything."

He added that there was a need to release "as much information as possible" in order to drum up excitement and interest among fans and encourage more orders from retailers.

Blackest Night #4 is out October 28, with the fifth instalment following in November.
